SQL for Data Science

This course is offered by University of California, Davis. It is designed to teach the fundamentals of SQL and data analysis for data science purposes. To earn the certificate, I needed to earn a passing grade on each of the required assignments (quizzes, programming assignments and the peer-graded assignment).

The course taught me how to:

  • identify a subset of data needed from a column or set of columns and write a SQL query to extract the desired data subset
  • create and populate data tables
  • work with different types of data such as strings, dates and numbers, and use functions to integrate data from different sources into fields with the correct format for analysis
  • write both simple and complex SQL queries to select, filter, sort, and summarize data from tables
